As part of the Parish Council’s commitment to look at the needs of the young people in the village I attended a very interesting Youth Commission consultation last week. It certainly gave me ‘food for thought’ especially when I heard that a group from the commission’s hate crime unit had attended at Moorside as part of a fact-finding initiative. The outcome clearly indicated that hate crime was a real issue for our local young people. Very disturbing indeed. I’m looking into ways we can help to support our young people.
I’ve also had confirmation that our team investigating what local young people want to see in the area have made links with Moorside and will be visiting the school following the half term break.
